Graduate Students

I welcome inquiries from students who are excited about plant ecophysiology and the links between ecophysiology and broader questions in ecology and biodiversity. Prospective students should email me a CV and a brief description of your research background and why you’d like to pursue graduate work our lab group.
Graduate students in the Wake Forest Biology Department are guaranteed support for 5 years through teaching assistantships, which include a full stipend year-round (including summers, with no summer teaching responsibilities). In addition, all students receive professional development funds (~$750 per year) to ensure that students can pursue the opportunities they need to advance their research and careers (e.g., conferences, workshops, field research, etc.).

While Masters and PhDs are fully funded at Wake, external fellowships often provide a higher stipend and additional research funds. I strongly encourage students to apply for external fellowships, and I’m happy to work closely with you on fellowship proposals, such as:
